The objective of War is for a Player to have a higher card than the Dealer has. The game is dealt with 1 deck of cards and cards are re-shuffled after each hand. If the Player's card is higher, he wins 1:1 the original wager. In the case where the values are equal, the Player can either fold or choose to "go to War" by raising the bet: the raise must be equal to the original wagered amount. If the Player folds, the sum is automatically lost. If the Player decides to "go to War" and rises, an amount equal to the original wager is added to the bet and both the Dealer and Player receive three cards face down. These cards are called "burn cards" that do not come into play, and another card face-up. The highest face-up card is the winner.
